Stephen von Tetzchner is professor emeritus of developmental psychology at the University of Oslo.
His research includes typical and atypical development in general, and language development in particular, including language development in children with little or no expressive speech. He has addressed their development of communication and language from a developmental perspective, with a focus on the transactional processes that govern development.
He has published a large number of articles and textbooks on developmental psychology, language development, augmentative and alternative communication, rehabilitation, challenging behavior and autism spectrum disorder.
He has recently published a textbook on typical and atypical development (Routledge, 2019) and a Bulgarian Ukrainian editions with Harald Martinsen and Kristine Stadskleiv on augmentative and alternative communication for children, adolescents and adults with developmental disorders is in preparation.
